Interview with Shel Israel

« Marketing Litmus Test: Good Ad or Good Product? | Main | Collaborative Marketing in a Nutshell »
Marc Babej over at Being Reasonable interviewed Shel Israel, co-author of the forthcoming Naked Conversations (with Robert Scoble).

Here's a bit about CP+B:
But won’t creativity save the day? Look at the kudos creative hot shops, such as Crispin Porter, are getting, these days.
I’m an admirer of creativity, too, and I happen to like Crispin Porter’s Burger King ads. Crispin is the best of the old school, but it’s old school nonetheless. What they consider “creativity” is still push advertising. It’s about being cute, or funny, or outrageous, but not about being authentic. Burger King’s competitor MacDonald’s tried a character blog about a French Fry that looked like Abe Lincoln. The blogosphere considered it lame and shredded the ad. Creativity is eroding to authenticity.
Of course, my opinion of CP+B is a bit lower, but other than that, Shel is right on. I'm looking forward to the book.
